Kia ora readers and welcome to my blog.
This is an example of what an "On This Day" blog post could look like if I were a student in BHT 2021. We are trying out some new weekly activities this term and students will be finding out about a historical event from the past once each week using this website. After they decide which event they want to look at, they will need to do some additional research finding their own reliable sources. They will need to write a great and engaging introduction (like this one!) which explains the task. They will also include a DLO which shares the information they have gathered during their further research and they will fill in a weekly tracker to tell me what topic they chose, link their completed post as well as list their sources for additional research.
I want students to remember to link the individual blog post, not their entire blog. This is an example showing them the one post linked. If this were my student task I would include my DLO below. Instead, I will include the rubric of DLO choices for them as an example.
Let me know what you think of this task in the comments below! Is researching an event in history an interesting and engaging learning task? What other suggestions do you have to make this a better learning experience for my Year 7-9 students?
